Indonesia National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
Vio (/ Putra) · Deki (/ Sauki) · Haerul · Reyhan (/ Saiful) · Rifki · Alfiansyah (/ Ridwan) · Wiran (C) · Syahreza (/ Ridho) · Fauzan (/ Galang) · Ade (/ Yanuar / Aksal) · Alfin (/ Farhan)Indonesia aims to play with high pressing and verticality through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup focuses on winning the ball high up the pitch and moving forward quickly to exploit gaps in the opposition defense. The goal is to use speed and directness to catch opponents out of position.
Vio guards the goal as the lone goalkeeper. In front of him, a flat back four provides the base for the defensive unit. Reyhan and Haerul act as the two central defenders, where Reyhan plays as the left center back and Haerul as the right center back. They must hold the line and cover space when the full backs push forward. Deki operates as the right back to provide width and support the flank, while Rifki plays as the left back to manage the defensive duties on the opposite side. The defensive unit works to squeeze the space between the lines and maintain a cohesive block.
The midfield is a three man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten behind the striker. Wiran (C) leads the group from the right central midfield position, acting as the captain to organize the team and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Alfiansyah plays as the left central midfielder to help control the tempo and win the second ball. Syahreza operates in the advanced role as an attacking midfielder, looking to find pockets of space between the opposition midfield and defense. This group works to press in a mid-block and quickly recycle possession to find the forwards.
The attacking unit employs three attackers across the front to stretch the defense. Ade acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of oncoming runners. On the flanks, Alfin plays as the left winger and Fauzan operates as the right winger. Both players are expected to cut inside to create goal scoring chances or pull wide to deliver crosses. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition, allowing the Indonesia back line to step up and intercept.
Indonesia gains a significant advantage through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using the front three to trigger a press, the team can win the ball high up the pitch and immediately attack. Another strength is the potential for wide overloads when Deki and Rifki push up to overlap the wingers. This creates numerical superiority in the attacking third, making it difficult for the opponent to defend the flanks.
This 4-3-3 formation relies on aggressive pressing and quick transitions to break down opponents. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under intense pressure.
