Donatti and Gattoni focus on winning the second ball and clearing the lines to stop direct attacks. They aim to hold a compact formation when the team drops into a mid-block.

The midfield operates as a double pivot with D. Rodríguez and Menossi holding the center. These two players are tasked to shield the defense and prevent the opponent from playing through the lines. Menossi works to win the ball and recycle possession to the full backs or the wide players. D. Rodríguez connects the defensive and attacking lines by carrying the ball forward or playing short passes to the attackers. This two-man midfield must be disciplined to cover the space left behind when the full backs push high.

In the final third, San Lorenzo uses four attackers to stretch the defense. Piatti and J. Ramírez act as wide wingers, with Piatti using his dribbling to cut inside and create chances. Alexander Díaz and Peralta Bauer lead the line as a two-man partnership up front. The two center forwards work to pin the last defender and create space for the wingers to run in behind. This formation allows for quick combinations and creates many opportunities to whip it in to the strikers or deliver early crosses.

This 4-2-4 formation offers significant advantages in the attacking phase. The team can create wide overloads when Peruzzi and Pitton overlap the wingers. Having four players close to the opposition goal allows the team to press from the front and win the ball high up the pitch. This creates constant pressure and forces the opponent to play long balls, which Donatti and Gattoni can intercept.
