Svilar guards the goal, acting as the last line of defense. The defensive unit functions as a back three with Mancini acting as the central anchor. Hermoso sits as the right centre-back, while Ndicka occupies the left centre-back role. The wide defenders, Wesley as the right wing back and Angelinho as the left wing back, are tasked to push high and provide width. This allows the central three to stay compact and defend zonally.

The midfield operates as a double pivot with El Aynaoui and Konè. Konè acts as a carrier to drive forward with the ball, while El Aynaoui works to shield the defense and win the second ball. These two connect the defensive line to the front three, often tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. They must work hard to cover the space left behind when the wing backs push forward.

In the attacking phase, Roma employs three attackers across the front. Malen acts as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line. Summerville operates as a winger on the left to cut inside and create, while Soulè or Pellegrini provides width or playmaking on the right. The team aims to hit in behind on the transition, using the pace of Summerville and Malen to stretch the defense.

One major tactical advantage for Roma is the ability to create wide overloads when Wesley and Angelinho overlap the wingers.
