Persib Football Formation
Starting Lineup
SEKULIC · RAGNAR · PERALTA · TEJA P A · BERGUINHO · HAYE · GAKUTO · MATRICARDI · MUTOMBO · ELLIANO · WALSHPersib relies on a high press and quick transitions to control games, using a 4-3-3 formation to stretch the opposition. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and move it vertically to exploit gaps in the opponent defensive lines. The team looks to dominate through high intensity and rapid ball movement to keep the opposition on the back foot.
TEJA P A sits between the posts to anchor the defense. The back line operates as a flat back four, with WALSH acting as the right back to provide width. ELLIANO plays as the left back, often looking to overlap the winger to create extra numbers in the final third. MUTOMBO and MATRICARDI form the central pair, where MATRICARDI acts as a ball playing defender while MUTOMBO provides cover and strength in the air. The defensive unit works to squeeze the space between the lines and hold a high line to keep the team compact.
The midfield is a three man midfield with a carrier and creative outlets. HAYE plays as the left central midfielder to connect the defense and attack, often dropping deep to receive the ball. GAKUTO operates as the right central midfielder, driving forward with the ball to join the attack. BERGUINHO plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space between the lines to create chances. This trio works to press in a mid-block and win the second ball to maintain control of the central areas.
Persib uses three attackers across the front to pin the opposition back. SEKULIC acts as the lone striker, working to hold up the ball and find the feet of oncoming runners. RAGNAR plays as the left winger, staying wide to stretch the defence, while PERALTA acts as an inverted winger on the right side to cut inside and look for goal. The attackers press from the front to force a long ball and win possession high up the pitch. They move in combinations to create runs in behind or deliver crosses from wide areas.
One major strength for Persib is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, forcing mistakes near the opponent goal. The team also creates wide overloads when ELLIANO and RAGNAR push forward together. This creates numerical superiority on the left flank, making it difficult for the opposition to defend the wing.
The 4-3-3 formation allows Persib to exert heavy pressure on the ball and strike quickly in transition. This lineup is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back.
