They can overlap the wingers to create overloads or track back to help the back three when the team loses possession.

The attacking front line features Malen as a central striker supported by Reijnders and X. Simons. Reijnders and X. Simons operate as inverted wingers who cut inside to occupy the half spaces. This movement creates space for Malen to find the feet of the striker or make runs in behind. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent. They combine in tight spaces to play through the lines and look to hit in behind on the transition.
