Starting Lineup

Gudmundsson · Muharemovic · Bijol · Ampadu · Longstaff · Stach · Calvert-Lewin · Aaronson · Wilson · Okafor · Perri

Leeds focus on a high press and a very vertical style of play. They use a 2-5-3 formation to dominate the center of the pitch and win the ball back quickly. This lineup is built to attack with many players and control the game through a crowded central zone.

Perri stays in goal to command the area. A narrow back two consisting of Bijol and Muharemovic forms the defensive unit. These central defenders must play a high line to squeeze the space and intercept balls before the opposition can move forward. Bijol is dominant in the air, while Muharemovic must cover the space behind to sweep the line. Both defenders work to keep the defensive block compact and deny the turn to any oncoming attackers.

The midfield acts as the engine room for Leeds. It features a five man group that controls the tempo. Ampadu and Gudmundsson act as a double pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. Longstaff and Stach operate as central midfielders who drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Aaronson plays as an attacking ten in the hole to find space between the lines. This midfield group works to recycle possession and press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch.

In the final third, Leeds deploy three attackers to stretch the defense. Okafor plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create chances. Wilson plays wide on the right to provide width and whip it in toward the box. Calvert-Lewin acts as a target man to hold up the ball and win the header. The forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball. They look to combine in tight spaces and make runs in behind to catch the defense out of position.

A major advantage for Leeds is the numerical superiority in midfield. Having five players in the middle allows them to dominate the ball and outnumber opponents in the center. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three and Aaronson to trigger a press. This creates many chances to break quickly on the transition and catch opponents off guard.

This 2-5-3 lineup is a high risk formation built for heavy ball domination. It is best suited for games against opponents who play a low block and allow Leeds to control the center.
