Partick Thistle seeks to control the center of the pitch through a high press and verticality. This 3-5-2 formation is built to dominate the middle third and create attacking overload situations in the final third. The lineup focuses on heavy numbers in the central areas to win the second ball and transition quickly when the ball is recovered.

Angel Oyekachukwu stands between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back three consists of Draymond Singh-White, Michael Oyedeji, and Stefan Luki膰. Singh-White acts as the central figure to clear the lines while Oyedeji and Luki膰 cover the wider channels. This back three can step up to squeeze the space or drop into a low block when under pressure. They defend zonally to ensure they maintain a compact shape against opposition runners.

The midfield is a dense five man unit designed to overwhelm the opponent. Aleksandr Miroslavovich and Giorgi Qlibadze operate as a double pivot to shield the defense and sit in front of the back three. Teemu 脛ij盲l盲, Alvaro Ara帽a, and Valentin Kempes-Rodriguez occupy the central spaces to connect the defense to the attack. Ara帽a and Kempes-Rodriguez act as inverted eights who drive forward with the ball, while 脛ij盲l盲 works to recycle possession and play short from the back. This midfield group aims to disrupt the opposition by pressing in a mid-block to force a long ball.

In the attacking phase, Partick Thistle utilizes two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defense. Marcus Toure and Martin de Shaun work together to link up play between the lines and make runs in behind the opposition back line. Toure often acts to hold up the ball, allowing the midfielders to arrive late into the box. De Shaun looks to find the feet of the striker and work in combinations to split the defense. They press from the front to prevent the opposition from playing out from the back.

This formation provides significant numerical superiority in midfield, making it difficult for opponents to find passing lanes through the center. The wide midfielders can spread wide to stretch the defense, creating space for the central players to operate. The ability to switch play quickly allows the team to isolate wide players in one on one situations during a transition.

The 3-5-2 lineup relies on central dominance and aggressive pressing to dictate the tempo. This system is best suited for games where the team needs to overpower a single pivot or a narrow midfield.
