L. CHEVALIER acts as the last line of defense, starting the build up from the back. The defensive unit operates with a back three consisting of L. BERALDO, I. ZABARNYI, and W. ZAIRE-EMERY. L. BERALDO and I. ZABARNYI provide central coverage while W. ZAIRE-EMERY acts as a ball playing defender to help progress the play. On the flanks, L. HERNANDEZ and Y. ZAGUE operate as attacking wing backs to provide width and support the press. This group works to maintain a high line, squeezing the space between the units.

The midfield functions as a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. D. FERNANDEZ and K.I. LEE T occupy the central spaces, tasked with linking the defense to the attack. D. FERNANDEZ works to shield the back three and recycle possession, while K.I. LEE T looks to drive forward with the ball to break the line. They must remain compact to prevent opponents from playing through the center and ensure they cover the spaces left by the advancing wing backs.

In the final third, PSG employs three attackers to pin the opposition back. K. MUANI leads the line as a pressing centre-forward, working to harass the defenders. B. BARCOLA T and I. MBAYE T act as wide wingers who look to cut inside and create goal scoring chances. The attack is built through quick combinations and direct runs in behind. When the wing backs push up, B. BARCOLA T and I. MBAYE T can move into more central positions to create overloads in the box.

One major strength of this PSG lineup is the ability to create wide overloads when L. HERNANDEZ and Y. ZAGUE push forward. This forces the opposition to defend a massive amount of space. Another advantage is the speed of transition, as the front three can hit the opposition on the break immediately after a turnover. The compact nature of the back three and the double pivot makes the team difficult to play through centrally.

This 5-2-3 formation provides a strong balance between defensive solidity and attacking width. It is best suited for games where the team needs to play against a low block or exploit space on the counter.
