Real Madrid Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Boyah · Boyah · Boyah · Boyah · Boyah · Boyah · Boyah · Rama · Indra Bening · MP · BoyahReal Madrid aim to control games through high pressing and quick transitions using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and spread wide to stretch the defence. The goal is to use the technical quality of the players to play through the lines and create chances in the final third.
Boyah starts between the posts as the goalkeeper before the defensive unit moves into a flat back four. Boyah covers the left side as the left back while Boyah occupies the right back position to protect the flanks. In the middle, Boyah acts as a ball playing defender on the left and Boyah holds the right centre back slot. The whole back line works to hold the line and step up to set the offside trap when the team presses high.
The midfield functions as a three man midfield with a carrier to link the defence and attack. Boyah occupies the central role to shield the defence and recycle possession when the tempo needs to slow down. On either side, Boyah works as an inverted eight to press aggressively and win the ball high up the pitch. These players are tasked to carry the ball forward and find the feet of the striker during build up play.
The attacking front line uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. MP acts as a pressing centre forward to lead the hunt for the ball. On the wings, Rama operates as an inverted winger who looks to cut inside and find space in the half spaces. Indra Bening stays wide as a winger who wants to get to the byline and whip it in for the striker.
One major advantage for Real Madrid is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to force a long ball from the opposition. The team also benefits from the speed of transition when Boyah or the midfielders win the ball and immediately hit in behind on the transition. This creates many one on one situations for the wide players.
This 4-3-3 formation focuses on aggressive ball recovery and rapid offensive movement. It is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate possession and break down a low block.
