Safonov guards the goal as the lone man in the defensive line. In front of him, Marquinhos and W. Pacho form a narrow back two that must stay concentrated to prevent central breaches. Marquinhos acts as a leader to organize the unit, while W. Pacho provides cover behind the high line. Because there are only two central defenders, the team relies on a high line and aggressive stepping to prevent the ball from reaching the striker.

The midfield functions as a five man block to control the center. Vitinha and J. Névés act as a double pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Vitinha often looks to play through the lines with his passing range, while J. Névés works to win the second ball and cover the spaces left by the advancing wide players. D. Doué plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to connect the midfield to the front line. On the flanks, Nuno Mendes and A. Hakimi push very high to act as wide midfielders, providing the width needed to stretch the defense.

The attacking trio uses high intensity to pin the last defender. O. Dembele acts as a lone striker to lead the press and hold up the ball for others. K. Kvaratskhelia and M. Olise operate as inverted wingers who cut inside to create space for the overlapping runs of the wide midfielders. This setup allows PSG to create overloads in the half spaces. The forwards aim to combine in tight spaces and look for runs in behind as soon as they regain control.
