The midfield functions as a central engine room using a double pivot. Rovella sits deep to shield the defence and recycle possession, while Taylor acts as the carrier to drive the ball forward. On the flanks, Marusic and Tavares act as wing backs to provide width. Marusic stays disciplined to help the defence, whereas Tavares pushes high to join the attack. This midfield group connects the defensive line to the front three by playing through the lines.

Lazio utilizes three attackers to pin the opposition back. Ratkov plays as the lone striker, using his physicality to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. Zaccagni operates as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and create chances. On the right, Isaksen stays wide to stretch the defence before looking to play through the lines.
