AEK Larnakas aims to play with a heavy verticality and high intensity, utilizing a 4-2-4 formation to overwhelm opponents. The lineup focuses on rapid transitions and high pressing to win the ball high up the pitch. By committing many players forward, the team looks to stretch the defence and create many chances in short periods. They aim to control the game through pressure, and this formation is designed to catch teams during their buildup phase.

Paraskevas guards the goal and organizes the back line from deep. The defensive unit operates as a flat back four where Miramon acts as the right back and Pileas plays as the left back. Adoni and Miličević form the central defensive pair, tasked to hold the line and defend zonally. While Miramon and Pileas push up to overlap the winger, Adoni and Miličević must step up to squeeze the space and cover the channels to prevent counter attacks. They must be ready to defend man-to-man when required.

In the middle of the pitch, the team uses a double pivot with Pankov and Ledes acting as the primary ball carriers and protectors. Pankov and Ledes work to shield the defence and win the second ball when the ball is lost. They act as the link between the defenders and the front four, tasked to recycle possession or play through the lines with direct passes. Pankov and Ledes provide the foundation for the attacking waves, as they must sit deep enough to protect the center but also carry the ball forward.

The attacking phase is built around a powerful front four that occupies all zones of the final third. Ivanović and Layouni provide width as wide wingers, with Ivanović on the left and Layouni on the right. Both players look to cut inside or get to the byline to whip it in for the strikers. Repas and Bajić operate as a strike partnership in the center, working to pin the last defender and find pockets of space. The duo works to create constant movement in the box, using combinations to split the defence with a through ball or make runs in behind.

A major strength of this lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, with the four attackers triggering the press from the front. This creates a lot of pressure on the opposition goalkeeper and defenders. Additionally, AEK Larnakas benefits from numerical superiority in the attacking third, which allows the team to create wide overloads when the full backs join the play. This combination of width and central presence makes them very difficult to defend against in open play.

The 4-2-4 formation provides a highly aggressive way to hunt for goals through constant pressure. This tactic is most effective when facing teams that struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
