The midfield functions with a three man midfield containing a central presence and two runners. Paulinho and Prezzabile occupy the central spaces to shield the defence and win duels. Ficarotta or Guadalupo plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to connect the lines and find the feet of the forwards. This group works to compress the midfield and ensure they can transition from a defensive block into an attacking phase without losing control of the center.

Mantova utilizes three attackers across the front to pressure the opposition. Manfre' acts as the pressing centre-forward to lead the line and hold up the ball.
