SK Rapid Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Kara · Tilio · Radulovic · Wurmbrand · Seidl · Oswald · Bolla · Horn · Raux Yao · Schöller · HedlSK Rapid looks to win the ball back high up the pitch and hit teams in behind on the transition using a 2-5-3. This formation is built to play with intense verticality and high pressure. The lineup focuses on overloading the middle to control the rhythm before launching attacks.
Hedl starts in goal to organize the defensive line. The back line consists of a narrow pair of central defenders with Raux Yao and Schöller. These two must stay compact to cover the vast space behind them. Raux Yao and Schöller act as the primary stopper duo, needing to win the second ball and clear the lines when the high press is bypassed. Because the formation uses only two defenders, they often have to step up to engage attackers early or sweep behind the midfield.
A heavy midfield presence forms the engine of SK Rapid. Bolla and Horn operate as a double pivot to shield the two centre-backs and protect the central zone. Seidl and Oswald play as the left and right central midfielders, acting as carriers to drive forward with the ball. Tilio plays as the attacking ten, sitting in the hole to connect the lines and play through the lines to the front three. This five man unit works to squeeze the space and ensure the opposition cannot play through the middle.
The attack utilizes three players to stretch the defence. Kara plays as a lone striker and works to find the feet of the striker or hold up the ball for teammates. On the flanks, Wurmbrand and Radulovic act as wide wingers who want to isolate a one on one against the opposition full backs. They look to cut inside or get to the byline to deliver a cross. The front three press from the front to force a long ball and disrupt the build up play of the opponent.
This lineup provides significant numerical superiority in midfield, making it very difficult for opponents to find space between the lines. The coordinated waves of pressure from the midfielders and attackers allow SK Rapid to win the ball back high up the pitch. The ability to transition quickly from a central overload to wide attackers creates many chances in open play.
This 2-5-3 formation is designed for aggressive teams that want to dominate the ball in the middle third. It is best suited for games where the team needs to break down a low block or catch a high line on the break.
