Starting Lineup

Irfan (Habibi) · Sopian · Roki · Najmudin · Nanang · Goler · Abdul Aziz A · Paisal · Egi T · Borain · Egi B

Focusing on a heavy defensive block and rapid transitions, PSCS utilizes a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup aims to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting opponents on the break. The team is built to absorb waves of attacks and use the space behind the opposition lines through quick vertical play.

Irfan guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back line operates as a compact five with Egi B and Sopian acting as the central pair to hold the line and win headers. Roki plays as a left center back to provide cover and help play out from the back. The wing backs, Nanang and Najmudin, provide width and are expected to track back to form a five man defensive unit when the team sits deep. This defensive unit functions to squeeze the space between the lines and force opponents wide.

In front of the defense, Borain acts as a single pivot to shield the back line and intercept passes. Paisal and Egi T operate as the two central midfielders in a three man midfield. Paisal looks to carry the ball forward and connect the defense to the attack, while Egi T provides support to win the second ball. This midfield group works to compress the midfield and prevent opponents from playing through the lines.

The attack relies on two forwards playing in close proximity. Abdul Aziz A and Goler lead the line as a strike partnership. Goler works to hold up the ball and link up play, while Abdul Aziz A looks to make runs in behind the defense. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. When the team wins possession, they look to hit in behind on the transition, using the width provided by Nanang and Najmudin to spread the defense.

A major strength of this PSCS formation is the ability to maintain compactness when defending. The narrow defensive block makes it very difficult for opponents to find gaps in the middle. Another advantage is the speed of transition, as the team can move from a deep block to an attacking stance with very few passes. This setup also allows for wide overloads when the wing backs push up to support the midfielders.

This 5-3-2 formation is built for teams that want to be defensively solid and rely on clinical counter attacks. It is best suited for games against dominant sides where the goal is to deny space and strike at pace.
