Safonov acts as the goalkeeper to sweep behind the defensive line. The back four functions as a staggered line with Marquinhos and Pacho acting as the central defenders. Marquinhos is dominant in the air and provides cover, while Pacho works to hold the line. Hakimi acts as an attacking full back to provide width on the right, while Mendes pushes up on the left to overlap. This defensive unit stays compact to prevent through balls.

The midfield relies on a three-man midfield with a single pivot to control the center. Vitinha sits as the deep lying playmaker, looking to recycle possession and protect the back four. Neves and Ruiz operate in the half spaces to connect the defense to the attack. Ruiz drives forward with the ball to support the press, while Neves looks to pick up runners and play through the lines. This trio works to compress the midfield and win the second ball.

The attack uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defense. Dembélé leads the line as a pressing centre forward to force long balls from the opposition. Kvaratskhelia stays wide on the left as an inverted winger to cut inside and create chances. Doué operates on the right wing to provide width and isolation in one on one situations. These players work in combinations to hit in behind on the transition and deliver early crosses.

One major tactical advantage for PSG is the ability to create wide overloads from the overlapping runs of Hakimi and Mendes. The team also finds success through numerical superiority in midfield when Vitinha, Neves, and Ruiz combine to control the central zone.
