In the final third, the team uses three attackers to stretch the defence. Godts acts as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside, while Berghuis provides width on the right. Leonardo works as a lone striker to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. The movement of Godts and Berghuis allows the team to create cutbacks from the byline or find Leonardo with through balls as they attack in combinations.

A major tactical advantage for Ajax is the numerical superiority in midfield, which makes it difficult for opponents to find passing lanes. They also use the high press to trigger a press from the front, often winning the ball in dangerous areas.
