Álvarez and Brandt operate in the half spaces to connect the defense to the attack, with Álvarez using his driving runs to move the team up the pitch. Gloukh plays as the attacking ten, looking to find pockets of space and play through the lines to the forwards.

In the final third, Ajax utilizes three attackers to stretch the opposition. Godts stays wide on the left to provide width, while Berghuis operates on the right. Both Godts and Berghuis are expected to cut inside to create goalscoring chances. Leonardo acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and link up with the midfielders. This attacking front works to pin the last defender and create runs in behind.

This setup offers Ajax significant numerical superiority in the middle of the park. By packing the midfield, they can recycle possession easily and control the rhythm of the game.
