Koželuh and Kayondo are tasked with tracking back to prevent crosses and ensuring the defensive line stays level. The midfield consists of a five man group designed to congest the center. Stránský and Masopust form a double pivot to shield the defence and protect the back four. Stránský and Masopust focus on winning the second ball and recycling possession to keep the team moving. Ahead of them, Baboula, Dulay, and Rus operate in the central and half spaces to link the defensive and attacking lines. Baboula and Dulay can move into the pockets of space to receive the ball, while Rus helps to press aggressively in the midfield to win it back high up the pitch.

The attacking phase relies on a lone striker, Mašek, who leads the line. Mašek acts as a target man to hold up the ball and allow the midfield to push forward. The team builds play by spreading wide through the full backs to create crossing opportunities. The midfielders look to find Mašek's feet or play long balls to him to bypass the midfield. When the team wins the ball, the wingers and wide midfielders push up to support Mašek, creating combinations to penetrate the opposition defense.

This formation offers significant compactness when defending deep in a mid-block. Slovan Liberec can create numerical superiority in the central midfield area to dominate the middle of the pitch. The presence of a strong double pivot alongside three central midfielders allows the team to squeeze the space and deny the turn to opposition playmakers.
