Starting Lineup

Salford seeks to win the ball back high up the pitch through a high press, operating within a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup relies on verticality and directness to catch opponents out of position. The intention is to control the center of the pitch and use the wing backs to provide width while the central players focus on breaking the lines.

JS sits between the lines in goal to act as a sweeper when the defense pushes up. The back three consists of Benjamin in the center, with George as the left centre back and Evan as the right centre back. Benjamin acts as the primary stopper to win the header and clear the lines, while George and Evan cover the space behind him to handle runners in behind. This defensive unit works to squeeze the space between the lines, ensuring the team stays compact when they drop into a mid-block.

The midfield relies on a single pivot with Kian sitting in front of the back three to shield the defense. Marcus operates as the right central midfielder, helping to connect the defensive and attacking lines, while Bdon plays as the left central midfielder to drive forward with the ball. The wide players, Brad and Mud, act as wing backs to provide the width. Brad will push high to overlap the winger, and Mud must track back to help the defense when the team loses possession.

In the attacking phase, Salford uses two forwards in a partnership. Lux and Ellis operate as a duo to pressure the opposition back line. Lux can act as a target man to hold up the ball, allowing Ellis to make runs into the box. The team builds play by looking to find the feet of the striker or using the wing backs to stretch the defense. This movement creates opportunities for cutbacks from the byline or quick combinations in tight spaces to split the defense.

This 3-5-2 formation offers Salford numerical superiority in midfield, making it difficult for opponents to play through the center.
