Starting Lineup

Sinisalo · CCV · Tounekti · KT · CMac · Hogh · Duran · Ox · Engles · Yang · AJ

Celtic focus on a high press and verticality using a 3-3-4 formation. This lineup aims to win the ball high up the pitch and catch the opposition before they can settle. The goal is to use a heavy front line to force mistakes and quickly move the ball forward to exploit gaps in the defensive lines.

Sinisalo operates in goal as the last line of defense. The back three consists of KT, CCV, and AJ. CCV acts as the central defender, using his presence to win the header and cover space. AJ and KT act as wide centre-backs, ready to slide wide to cover the flanks or step into midfield when the ball is played through the thirds. The defensive unit aims to hold a high line to squeeze the space between the lines.

The midfield is a three-man midfield with a carrier and creative runners. CMac sits in the single pivot role to shield the defense and recycle possession. Engles and Ox play as the two central midfielders, tasked with pressing aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. Engles works to drive forward with the ball, while Ox looks to connect the defensive and attacking lines by playing through the lines. This trio must be disciplined to prevent being bypassed by long balls.

The attacking unit uses four players to stretch the defense. Tounekti and Yang act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to pull the opposition full backs out of position. In the center, Hogh and Duran operate as two forwards in a partnership. One may act as a target man to hold up the ball, while the other looks to make runs in behind. They work to press the opposition back line and create chaos through constant movement and combination play.

Celtic gain a massive advantage through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. Having four attackers allows them to pin the last defender and force long balls that the back three can clear. The midfield trio provides numerical superiority in the middle when they step up to join the press. This creates a massive amount of pressure in the final third, making it hard for the opponent to play out from the back.

This 3-3-4 formation is built to dominate games through sheer aggression and attacking volume. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play under pressure and drop into a low block.
