Robertson provides stability, while Porro carries the ball forward to link the play. Ahead of them, Gallagher and Tonali operate as two tens in the half spaces. Gallagher presses aggressively to win the ball high, while Tonali looks to play through the lines and connect the midfield to the front four.

The attacking unit is incredibly spread out with four players across the front. Simons and Kudus act as wide wingers who stretch the defence by staying high and wide. In the central areas, Maddison and Kulusevski operate as two forwards in a partnership. Maddison looks to find the feet of the strikers and create chances in tight spaces, while Kulusevski works to link up play between the lines. This front four focuses on making runs in behind to exploit any gaps left by the opposition.

This formation offers significant numerical superiority in the attacking third, making it hard for opponents to defend the width and the center at once. The high press from players like Gallagher and Maddison allows the team to win it back high up the pitch. This setup also allows for incredible speed of transition when the ball is won in the middle third.
