Starting Lineup

Valle · Braunöder · Ramón · Posch · Perrone · Douvikas · Baturina · Paz · Da Cunha · Caqueret · Butez

Aiming for a vertical and direct style of play, Como utilizes a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup seeks to win the ball back high up the pitch and use the width of the pitch to stretch the defence. The team focuses on quick transitions to catch the opponent out of position and move the ball forward with speed.

Butez stays between the posts to guard the goal. The defensive unit works as a back five with Perrone acting as the central defender to sweep behind the line. Posch sits as the right centre back and Ramón occupies the left centre back spot. The wide defenders, Braunöder as the right wing back and Valle as the left wing back, are tasked to push high up the pitch to support the attack. This formation allows the back three to hold a compact block when the team drops into a mid-block to deny the turn of the opposition attackers.

A double pivot controls the center of the pitch. Da Cunha and Caqueret operate in the middle to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Caqueret is known for his high pressing intensity to win the ball back in the middle third. Da Cunha works to receive the ball from the defenders and carry the ball forward into the attacking half. They must work together to squeeze the space between the lines and prevent the opponent from playing through the lines.

The attacking front line features three players pushing high. Douvikas acts as the lone striker to lead the press from the front and hold up the ball for others. Baturina plays on the left wing and Paz operates on the right wing. Both Baturina and Paz look to cut inside to create goalscoring chances. They often look to play one two combinations with Douvikas or wait for the wing backs to overlap. This movement is designed to isolate a winger in one on one situations or allow for cutbacks from the byline.

One major strength for Como is the ability to create wide overloads. When Braunöder and Valle push up, they create extra numbers to support the wingers. The team also benefits from their ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using the front three and the midfield, they can trigger a press to win the ball high up the pitch. This creates immediate chances to break quickly against a disorganized back line.

This 5-2-3 formation provides a balanced way to transition from a solid defensive block to a dangerous attacking unit. It is best suited for matches against teams that play with a high line and can be caught on the transition.
