Starting Lineup

AaB prefers to use a high press and quick transitions, operating primarily from a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup seeks to control the central areas of the pitch while using the width of the midfield to stretch the opposition. By maintaining a high intensity, the team aims to win the ball high up the pitch and move forward with speed.

Marius acts as the goalkeeper, providing the foundation for the defensive unit. The back line consists of a back three with Emil occupying the central position. Lucas plays as the right centre-back, while Bertram holds the left centre-back role. This three man unit works to defend zonally, with Emil often acting as a covering defender to sweep behind the line. The defensive unit must remain compact to deny space between the lines.

The midfield operates with a high volume of players to dominate the center. Oskar J and Gaarde form a central pairing that works to win the second ball and recycle possession. Viktor plays as an attacking ten, looking to play through the lines and find the attackers. On the flanks, Frankmar and Villads act as wide midfielders who provide the width for AaB. They are tasked to track back when defending and push up to support the attack, helping to connect the defensive unit to the front line.

Up front, the team employs two forwards in a partnership. Harun plays as the left striker, while Lucas operates as the right striker. They work together to press the opposition back line and make runs in behind. The movement of Harun and Lucas is designed to create space for Viktor to arrive late into the box. This attacking duo can also hold up the ball to allow the midfield to advance, often looking to combine in tight spaces to break the defence.

This formation offers clear tactical advantages, particularly through numerical superiority in midfield. The presence of Frankmar and Villads allows the team to create wide overloads, forcing the opposition to pull players out of position. Additionally, the central density makes it difficult for opponents to play through the middle, allowing AaB to win it back high up the pitch and launch immediate attacks.
