These players connect the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession and searching for a pass to break the lines. They are tasked to win the ball back high up the pitch.

The attack features three attackers across the front, including wide wingers who hug the touchline to stretch the defense. Godts plays on the left while Carrizo stays wide on the right, both ready to cut inside or deliver a cross. Marcos Leonardo acts as the lone striker, working to hold up the ball and find the feet of the striker. This front line is designed to create runs in behind and isolate wide players in one on one situations during transitions.

Ajax gains a significant advantage through numerical superiority in midfield when the attacking ten drops deep. The ability to press high in coordinated waves allows the team to win the ball back in dangerous areas. By spreading wide with Godts and Carrizo, they create wide overloads that force the opposition to shift and leave gaps in the center.
