Starting Lineup

Partizan favors a hard working style focused on defensive solidity and winning the ball back in a mid block, utilizing a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to deny space between the lines and force opponents into wide areas where they can be trapped. The team aims to remain compact and strike quickly when the opposition leaves gaps during their build up.

Krunić operates between the posts to command his area and organize the back line. The defensive unit consists of a flat back four where Roganović and Jurčević act as full backs to protect the flanks. In the center, Simić and Milić occupy the space to defend zonally and win headers. Simić and Milić must stay close together to prevent through balls, while the full backs must track back quickly to cover any wide runners.

The midfield is a five man block designed to squeeze the space and congest the center of the pitch. Baba and Ugrešić act as a double pivot to shield the defense and break up play. In front of them, Vukotić and Čumić work to connect the defensive and attacking lines by receiving the ball and playing it through the lines. Traorè operates on the left of this group to press aggressively and help the midfield win the second ball.

Up front, Kojzek acts as a lone striker tasked with holding up the ball and making runs in behind. He must work to pin the last defender and create space for the midfielders to arrive late into the box. The attack relies on the midfielders pushing up to support him, often using quick combinations to catch the defense out of position. The goal is to use the width provided by the midfielders to stretch the defense before feeding Kojzek.

Partizan offers several tactical advantages through this setup. The double pivot of Baba and Ugrešić provides a strong screen that makes the team very difficult to play through centrally. Additionally, the five man midfield allows for high pressing in coordinated waves to win the ball high up the pitch. This density makes it hard for opponents to find passing lanes into the attacking third.

This 4-5-1 formation provides a very compact defensive block that is hard to break down. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession where Partizan can defend deep and counter at pace.
