Liverpool Football Formation
Starting Lineup
ALISSON (BECKER) · JEREMIE (FRIMPONG) · JÉRÉMY (JACQUET) · VIRGIL (VAN DIJK) · MILOS (KERKEZ) · RYAN (GRAVENBERCH) · ALEXIS (MAC ALLISTER) · DOMINIK (SZOBOSZLAI) · FLORIAN (WIRTZ) · CODY (GAKPO) · HUGO (EKITIKÉ)Liverpool seeks to overwhelm opponents through intense pressing and direct verticality. The team utilizes a 4-3-3 formation to create constant pressure in the opponent's half. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and break quickly through the lines to exploit gaps in the defense.
ALISSON acts as a sweeping goalkeeper who can play out from the back. JEREMIE and MILOS operate as attacking full backs who provide width by pushing up the flanks. In the heart of the defense, VIRGIL acts as a ball playing defender with great aerial strength and the ability to cover large spaces, while JÉRÉMY stays deeper to defend zonally and win the second ball. Together, they work to hold the line and squeeze the space when the team moves up.
The midfield consists of a three man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten to bridge the gap between the back line and the strikers. RYAN and ALEXIS occupy the central zones to recycle possession and protect the center of the pitch. RYAN often works to press aggressively to win the ball back high up the pitch, while ALEXIS looks to carry the ball forward and play through the lines. DOMINIK operates in the hole behind the striker, arriving late into the box to provide an extra goal threat.
The attacking front three is designed to stretch the defense wide and create central chaos. HUGO leads the line as a central striker, using his presence to hold up the ball and link up play. CODY and FLORIAN play as inverted wingers who cut inside to occupy the half spaces, which creates room for the full backs to overlap. This movement forces the opposition to defend in tight spaces and allows the team to attack in combinations through quick passes.
One tactical strength of Liverpool is the ability to press in coordinated waves, which can force a long ball from the opponent. The combination of RYAN and DOMINIK in the middle allows the team to maintain compactness when defending. Furthermore, the team creates wide overloads by using the movement of MILOS and JEREMIE to pin the opposition wingers back.
This 4-3-3 formation is a high intensity lineup meant to dominate possession and transition with extreme speed. It is best suited for games against opponents that attempt to play short from the back.
