In the middle, DAN and FABIAN act as the central defenders, tasked with defending zonally and making sure they hold the line. They must be ready to step up to set the offside trap or drop into a low block if the high press is bypassed.

The midfield utilizes a three-man midfield with a carrier and a creative connection. SEAN operates as a player who can drive forward with the ball to break the line, while LEWIS works to cover ground and win the second ball in the middle of the park. JOE plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, occupying the pockets of space between the lines. JOE is responsible for finding the feet of the striker and picking up runners as he connects the midfield to the front three.

In the attacking phase, Newcastle uses three attackers across the front. ANTHONY plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create chances, while BAZOUMANA stays wide on the right to stretch the pitch. WILLIAM acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and pin the last defender to create space for the players behind him. The forwards work to press from the front, forcing a long ball from the opposition to allow the Newcastle defense to reset.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using the front three and JOE to trigger a press, Newcastle can force turnovers in dangerous areas. The team also benefits from the ability to create wide overloads when ALEX or LEO push forward to support the wingers.
