Salford Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Bodyguard · Benjamin · Brandon · Tyler · Kian · Marcus · Ellis · Brad · Mud · Lux · OrzoSalford focuses on a direct and aggressive style of play using a 3-5-2. This formation is built to win the second ball and hit teams in transition through a compact central presence. The lineup relies on heavy pressing to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly move it to the forwards.
Bodyguard acts as the last line of defense to sweep behind the back three. The defensive unit operates with a back three consisting of Brandon, Benjamin, and Tyler. Benjamin sits as the central defender to command the area, while Brandon and Tyler act as wide centre backs who can slide out to cover the flanks. This defensive unit is designed to hold a compact shape and squeeze the space when the opposition tries to build play.
The midfield is a five man unit that controls the central areas. Kian plays as the single pivot to shield the defense and disrupt passing lanes. Beside him, Marcus and Ellis work as an inverted eight pairing to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Marcus drives forward with the ball to transition play, while Ellis operates to recycle possession and cover ground. On the wings, Brad and Mud act as wing backs to provide width and stretch the defense, making sure the midfield does not get bypassed easily.
Salford utilizes two forwards in a partnership to lead the line. Lux and Orzo act as a dual attacking force that presses the opposition back line from the front. Lux works to hold up the ball and find the feet of the striker, while Orzo looks to make runs in behind to exploit gaps. The wing backs, Brad and Mud, push high to provide crosses and support the duo, creating combinations in the final third. The movement is designed to isolate defenders in one on one situations through quick vertical passing.
One major advantage for Salford is the numerical superiority in midfield which allows them to dominate the center of the pitch. The ability to use Brad and Mud to provide wide overloads means the team can quickly shift play from one side to the other. This formation also allows for a very strong mid block that makes it difficult for opponents to play through the lines.
This 3-5-2 formation is built for teams that want to dominate the middle of the park and strike with speed. It is best suited for games against opponents who play with a narrow midfield and lack width.
