Ederson operates as a sweeper keeper to support a very high defensive line. Behind him, Škriniar and Nathan Ake act as the two central defenders in this narrow back two. Škriniar uses his strength to win the header and stop long balls, while Nathan Ake is able to cover the space behind when the team pushes forward. Because there are only two defenders, they must hold the line carefully to avoid being caught by long balls in behind.

The midfield acts as the engine room for Fenerbahçe, utilizing a three man midfield with a carrier and wide creators. Guendouzi sits centrally to shield the defense and disrupt opposition play, often using his high pressing intensity to win the second ball. Semedo and Oosterwolde occupy the central midfield roles to control the tempo and progress through the thirds. On the flanks, Kante or Fred occupy the left half space to press aggressively and recover possession, while Asensio or Talisca play on the right to find the feet of the striker or deliver early passes.

The attacking unit employs three forwards to pin the last defender and stretch the defense. Musaba and GREENWOOD occupy the wide areas as inverted wingers who cut inside to create overloads in the box. Vedat or the transfer player acts as a central presence to hold up the ball and link up play between the lines. This front three works to press from the front, forcing the opposition to play long so the defenders can clear the lines.

One major advantage for Fenerbahçe is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, which can suffocate teams that try to play out from the back.
