PSG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Goanody (Donnaruma) · Nunu (Mendes) · Archiv (Hakimi) · Vergilius (Van Dijk) · Portugalsko (Vitína) · Lukáš (Modrić) · Juda (Beligham) · Matto (Kovačič) · Legenda (Neymar) · Lionel (Messi) · Kilian (Mbappé)PSG focuses on heavy attacking pressure and verticality through a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the pitch by stretching the opponent and winning it back high up the pitch through an aggressive press. The goal is to use width and central density to overwhelm the opposition.
Goanody sits between the defenders to act as the primary line of defense. Behind a back three, Vergilius holds the central position to organize the line, while Archiv and Nunu play as wide centre-backs to cover the flanks. The defensive unit looks to stay compact, with Archiv and Nunu ready to step up or slide wide to intercept passes. They must stay disciplined to avoid being caught during transitions.
The midfield operates as a four man block to control the center of the pitch. Matto and Juda act as the central pairing, with Matto looking to drive forward with the ball while Juda works to shield the defense. They must work to compress the midfield and deny the turn to opposing players. On the flanks, Lukáš and Portugalsko act as wing backs who provide constant width, pushing high to support the attack and tracking back to help the back three when defending.
The attack utilizes three forwards to pin the last defender of the opposition. Kilian acts as the lone striker, using his pace to run in behind and find space between the lines. He is supported by Lionel and Legenda, who play as inverted wingers that cut inside to create central threats. This movement creates space for Lukáš and Portugalsko to overlap the winger and deliver crosses. The front three work to press from the front, forcing the opposition to play long balls.
One major advantage for PSG is the ability to create wide overloads through the combination of the wing backs and the attacking trio. Another strength is the numerical superiority in the attacking third, which allows the team to switch play quickly and find openings. The coordination between the central midfielders and the wide players makes them very dangerous in transition.
This 3-4-3 formation relies on high intensity to squeeze the space in the opponent half. It is best suited for games where PSG needs to break down a low block through constant width and pressure.
