Jihlava Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Slavata · Haala · Štrakl · Čermák · Hošek · Lacko · Jambor · Moudrý · Křehlík · Usman · OmotoyeJihlava plays a vertical style of football designed to strike quickly through the middle and wide channels, utilizing a 4-3-3 formation. The goal is to win the ball and move it toward the goal with minimal touches. This lineup relies on high intensity to disrupt the opposition and create chances in transition.
Slavata stays between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit sits in a flat back four where Haala operates as the right back to provide width. On the left, Hošek acts as an attacking full back to push up the flank. In the center, Štrakl and Čermák form the partnership, with Štrakl acting as a ball playing defender to start attacks. They work to hold the line and squeeze the space between the defense and midfield.
The midfield consists of a three man midfield with a carrier and creative elements. Jambor sits in the right central role to help shield the defense and win the second ball. Lacko plays on the left to connect the defensive and attacking lines, often driving forward with the ball to break the line. Moudrý operates in the attacking ten role behind the striker, looking to find the feet of the forward or arrive late into the box to score. This trio works to compress the midfield when out of possession.
Jihlava uses three attackers across the front to stretch the opposition. Omotoye acts as a pressing centre forward to pin the last defender and lead the charge from the front. Křehlík plays as an inverted winger on the left, cutting inside to create space for Hošek to overlap. On the right, Usman acts as a wide winger who wants to get to the byline and deliver early crosses. The front three work to press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent.
This formation offers several tactical advantages for Jihlava. The presence of Moudrý behind the striker allows for numerical superiority in the central areas when the team moves into the final third. The team can also use wide overloads by having the wingers pull wide and inviting the full backs to push up. This creates many one on one situations for Usman and Křehlík.
The 4-3-3 formation provides a balanced platform for both quick transitions and sustained pressure. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high line and can be caught out of position.
