Haaland acts as a dominant target man to win the header and hold up the ball, while Cherki plays as a second striker in the hole to link up play. On the flanks, Doku acts as an inverted winger who loves to cut inside and drive at the defence, while Semenyo provides width and can also cut inside. These attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

A major tactical strength of this lineup is the ability to create wide overloads and isolate wide players in one on one situations through the movement of Doku and Semenyo. The team also benefits from the speed of transition when they win it back high up the pitch. By committing so many players forward, Man City forces the opposition to defend in a very deep block.
