Starting Lineup

Teja paku alam · Sandy walsh · Mutombo · Matricardi · Julio cesar · Gakuto · Thom haye · Mark klok · Peralta · Ragnar · Balsa

Persib focuses on a vertical style of play built around a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup aims to win the ball high up the pitch and use the pace of the front three to punish opposition lines. The team works to stay compact and relies on quick transitions to move from a mid-block into a direct attack.

Teja Paku Alam starts in goal to command the area and clear the lines when under pressure. The defense sits in a back five that uses a narrow defensive block to protect the middle. Mark Klok acts as the central figure in this unit, providing aerial strength and organizing the line. Julio Cesar operates as the right centre-back to cover space, while Matricardi provides cover on the left. Sandy Walsh acts as an attacking wing back on the right to provide width, whereas Mutombo plays as a left wing back to support the flank.

The midfield consists of a double pivot that focuses on controlling the center of the pitch. Thom Haye works as a deep lying playmaker to distribute the ball and find teammates with his passing range. Gakuto sits alongside him to shield the defense and win the second ball. These two connect the defensive unit to the attacking line by recycling possession or playing through the lines. They must press aggressively to win the ball back in the middle before the opposition can settle.

Persib uses three attackers to stretch the defense and create chances. Balsa acts as the lone striker and works to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. Ragnar plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside and find space, while Peralta stays wide on the left to deliver crosses. This front three presses from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. The goal is to create runs in behind and allow the wing backs to overlap the winger.

One major advantage for Persib is the ability to create wide overloads when Sandy Walsh and Mutombo push high. This creates extra passing lanes and forces the opposition to defend more space. The formation also offers compactness when defending because the five defenders and two midfielders can squeeze the space effectively. This makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle of the pitch.

This 5-2-3 formation is designed for a team that wants to transition quickly and exploit space on the flanks. It is best suited for games against opponents that commit many players forward and leave gaps behind their defense.
