The midfield relies on a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. Regiardo and Sotelo work together to shield the defence and recycle possession. Regiardo often looks to carry the ball forward to link the defensive line to the attack, while Sotelo focuses on protecting the space in front of the centre-backs. They must be ready to press in pairs to win the second ball and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines. This duo is the engine that allows the front four to stay high.

Newell's employs a heavy attacking front line consisting of three attackers across the front with a two-man strike partnership.
