Farronato stays between the posts to command the area. The back line functions as a flat back four to maintain a compact defensive block. Moranduzzo operates as the right back, while Sorino covers the left side as the left back. In the center, Breda and Jakirovic act as the two central defenders. Breda and Jakirovic must hold the line and stay close together to prevent runners from slipping through. The unit works to squeeze the space between the lines and force a long ball when the opponent tries to build from the back.

The midfield consists of a double pivot that provides the primary link between the defense and the attack. Cerpelletti and Venturini are responsible for the central engine room. Cerpelletti works to shield the defense and win the second ball, while Venturini looks to carry the ball forward and connect play. These two must work hard to track back and cover the spaces left by the advancing full backs. They act as the pivot point to recycle possession and transition from a defensive block into a rapid attack.

In the attacking phase, Inter utilizes four forwards to stretch the defense. El Mahboubi stays wide on the left as an inverted winger to cut inside, while Konteh hugs the touchline on the right to provide width. In the center, Pinotti and Carrara play as a two-man partnership. Pinotti and Carrara act as the primary goal threats, often looking to run in behind the defenders or hold up the ball for the incoming midfielders. The wide players look to get to the byline and deliver crosses into the box to find the strikers.

Inter possess several tactical strengths with this formation. They can create wide overloads when Moranduzzo and Sorino push up to support the wingers. The team can also achieve great speed of transition by bypassing the midfield and going direct to Pinotti and Carrara. This allows Inter to catch the opposition while they are out of position.
