This lineup focuses on squeezing the space high up the pitch and using quick vertical movements to catch opponents out of position. The goal is to win the ball back high up the pitch to create immediate scoring chances through quick combinations.
Raya acts as the goalkeeper to start the build up from the back. The back line functions as a flat back four with Calafiori playing as the left back and Timber operating as the right back. In the center, Saliba and Gabriel form a strong partnership where Gabriel provides aerial strength and Saliba uses his recovery speed to cover the space behind. The defensive unit stays high to keep the team compact and force a long ball from the opposition.
The midfield features a single pivot with Rice sitting in front of the defense to shield the line and intercept passes. In front of him, Ødegaard operates as the creative engine in the right channel, using his passing range to find teammates. Guimarães plays on the left side of the three man midfield to drive forward with the ball and link the defensive and attacking lines. This central trio works to compress the midfield and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.
Arsenal attacks with three players across the front to stretch the defence. Saka operates as an inverted winger on the right, often cutting inside to threaten the goal, while Godts stays wide on the left to provide width. Havertz leads the line as a pressing centre-forward, working to pin the last defender and hold up the ball for others. The attacking unit aims to create runs in behind and deliver early crosses into the box to find the attackers in scoring positions.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By having Rice and the midfield trio squeeze the opposition, Arsenal can create turnovers in dangerous areas. Another strength is the wide overload created when Timber and Saka combine to isolate a defender in a one on one situation.
The 4-3-3 lineup is built for high intensity and controlling the tempo through aggressive pressing. It is best suited for games against teams that try to play out from the back under pressure.
