Starting Lineup

Man City looks to dominate games through controlled possession and territorial dominance using a 5-3-2. A three-man midfield provides the engine for Man City to move the ball through the thirds. Jama, serving as the captain, sits in the left central role to shield the defence and recycle possession. Troy plays in the right central spot to carry the ball forward and link the back line to the attackers. Umar plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers, looking to find space between the lines and play through the lines to break the opposition block. This midfield group is responsible for winning the second ball and ensuring the team maintains control.

The attack features two forwards working in close partnership to stretch the defence. Meeks plays as the left striker to press from the front and disrupt the opposition build up. Gio operates as the right striker to find pockets of space and make runs in behind. The movement of Mieky and Hussein allows for constant overlaps, creating numerical superiority in wide areas. This allows the team to deliver crosses or cut it back to the late runners arriving into the box.

Man City benefits from the ability to create wide overloads when the wing backs push up. The formation also allows for great compactness when defending in a mid-block. By having three central players and three central defenders, the team can easily switch to a five-man block to deny the turn to opposition attackers.
