Boca aims to play a direct and counter attacking style of football using a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup focuses on being defensively solid and waiting for the right moment to hit the opposition in transition. The team relies on a compact block to deny space and uses quick vertical movements to catch opponents off guard.

OLIVEROS stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line operates as a back five with RUFFINI acting as the central anchor to sweep behind the line. BRALO and BACCARO sit as the side centre backs to provide cover and win headers. CRUZ and RAMIREZ act as attacking wing backs, tasked with providing width and tracking back to form a narrow defensive block when the team sits deep.

The midfield functions as a three man midfield with a carrier and a creative presence. SASAKI and RAMIREZ occupy the central roles to shield the defence and win the second ball. ARIAS plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to connect the lines and find the feet of the forwards. This midfield group must press in a mid-block to force a long ball from the opposition and then quickly win possession to start the break.

Boca uses a two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. LEMA and TRONCOSO work together to occupy the opposition centre backs and create runs in behind. LEMA often acts as a target man to hold up the ball, while TRONCOSO looks to play on the shoulder of the last defender. The wing backs, CRUZ and RAMIREZ, push high to provide width and deliver crosses into the box, allowing the two strikers to attack the far post.

This formation offers significant defensive compactness when the team drops into a low block. The use of three central defenders makes the team very difficult to break down through the middle. Additionally, the wide areas can be exploited during transitions as CRUZ and RAMIREZ can quickly spread wide to create overloads against a retreating back four.

The 5-3-2 formation provides Boca with a sturdy platform to absorb pressure and strike with pace. This setup is best suited for facing teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their high defensive line.
