Starting Lineup

Filip (Patrik - Trung Kiên) · Văn Hậu (Nhật Minh) · Thành Chung (Quang Kiệt) · Xuân Mạnh (Việt Anh) · Quang Vinh (Văn Vĩ) · Quang Minh (Tiến Anh) · Hoàng Đức (Quang Hải) · Thành Long (Thành Trung - Minh Khoa) · Đình Bắc (Đăng Khoa / Văn Khang) · Hoàng Hên (Hai Long / Việt Cường) · Xuân Son (Lee)

This lineup focuses on a direct and vertical style of play using a 5-2-3 formation. The intent is to catch opponents out of position by using heavy width and quick transitions. By sitting in a mid-block and waiting for the right moment, the team looks to strike with pace once the ball is won back.

Filip guards the goal as the last line of defense. The defensive unit works in a back five that can shift to cover the entire width of the pitch. Thành Chung sits centrally as the main stopper to win the header and clear the lines. To his left, Văn Hậu acts as a wide centre-back to cover the channel, while Xuân Mạnh provides cover on the right. The wing backs, Quang Vinh on the left and Quang Minh on the right, are tasked with providing the width. They must track back to support the defenders but also push up to act as attacking outlets when the team wins the ball.

The midfield operates with a two man unit tasked with controlling the center of the pitch. Hoàng Đức acts as a deep lying playmaker to help recycle possession and find the attackers. Beside him, Thành Long works to win the second ball and protect the central area. This duo needs to be able to intercept passes and immediately look to find the front three. They connect the defense to the attack by playing through the lines or switching play to the wide areas.

The attacking line uses three players to stretch the opposition defense. Xuân Son plays as a lone striker to hold up the ball and wait for support. On the flanks, Đình Bắc and Hoàng Hên act as wide wingers who want to cut inside and create chances. They push the opposition back line deep, creating space for the wing backs to overlap. The front three press from the front to force a long ball and regain control in the middle third.

A major strength for this team is the ability to create wide overloads by using the wing backs alongside the wingers. This setup allows for constant numbers in the final third. Additionally, the formation provides great compactness when defending in a mid block, making it very hard for opponents to play through the center.

This 5-2-3 formation is built to be defensively solid while being deadly on the break. It is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their defensive line.
