Chelsea aims to dominate through high pressing and rapid transitions using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup focuses on squeezing the space in the opponent half to win the ball back high up the pitch. The goal is to use wide players to stretch the defence while the midfield works to control the center of the pitch.

Sanchez sits between the posts to act as a sweeper behind a high line. The back three consists of Lacroix, Colwill, and Fofana. Colwill acts as a ball playing defender to play short from the back and progress through the thirds. Lacroix and Fofana provide cover and strength to defend zonally, ensuring the defensive unit stays compact. This back three allows the wide midfielders to push higher without leaving the central area exposed.

A central duo forms the engine room with Enzo and Caicedo operating as a double pivot. Caicedo presses aggressively to win the ball high and breaks the lines with his ball carrying. Enzo connects the defensive and attacking lines, often dropping deep to receive the ball and recycle possession. This pairing helps Chelsea maintain control while protecting the center. Pep Chavaria and Palestra provide the width, acting as wide midfielders who can overlap the wingers to create overloads.

The attacking front line features three players designed to pin the last defender. Palmer plays as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and create chances. On the right, Morgan Rogers works to isolate his marker in one on one situations. Joao Pedro or Jackson acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and find the feet of the striker coming from deep. This front three presses from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

Chelsea gains a major advantage through wide overloads when Pep Chavaria and Palestra push forward to support the attackers. The ability to press high in coordinated waves puts immense pressure on the opposition build up. This formation also offers speed of transition, allowing the team to break quickly once the ball is intercepted.

This 3-4-3 formation creates a heavy pressing presence that can overwhelm opponents in their own half. It is best suited for games where Chelsea needs to dominate possession and punish teams that struggle to play out from the back.
