Starting Lineup

Aktürkoglu · Güler · Elmas · Yüksek · Kadioglu · B.Özer · Demiral · Müldür · Akcicek · Muriqi · Kenan Y.

Fenerbahçe prefers a high press and heavy verticality with a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the pitch and win the ball back quickly in the opposition half. By using five midfielders, the team aims to crowd the center and transition with speed once possession is regained.

B.Özer stays between the posts to command the area. The defensive unit operates with a flat back four that looks to step up and squeeze the space between the lines. Demiral acts as a ball playing defender who can also win the header in aerial duels, while Akcicek provides cover alongside him. On the flanks, Müldür works as an attacking full back to provide width, whereas Kadioglu can overlap to support the play. The unit works together to hold a compact shape and prevent opponents from playing through the center.

The midfield consists of a double pivot with Elmas and Yüksek acting as the primary screen for the defense. Both players focus on winning the second ball and shielding the back four. In front of them, Güler and Kenan Y. operate in the half spaces to connect the lines and carry the ball forward. Aktürkoglu plays as a left sided midfielder who can drift inward to create extra passing lanes. This five man midfield allows Fenerbahçe to control the tempo and recycle possession when needed.

Muriqi leads the line as a lone pressing centre forward. He is tasked to hold up the ball and pin the last defender to create space for those arriving late into the box. The wide players, particularly Aktürkoglu, look to cut inside and combine in tight spaces to break the line. When the team attacks, they look to hit in behind on the transition by finding Muriqi or using quick combinations to exploit gaps left by the opposition.

One major strength for Fenerbahçe is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to force a long ball. The midfield density ensures numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch, making it difficult for opponents to build play. This formation also offers great flexibility to shift between a mid block and a high press depending on the game state.

This 4-5-1 formation creates a hard unit that is very difficult to break down centrally. It is best suited for games against possession based teams where Fenerbahçe can exploit space on the transition.
