The back line functions as a back five with Kerem acting as a right wing back and Greenwood serving as the left wing back to provide width. In the middle, Asensio, Kante, and Guendouzzi form a central trio where Kante and Guendouzzi act as covering defenders to sweep behind a high line while Asensio holds the line. The unit moves together to keep the distance between the lines small.

The midfield works as a flat four to block the center of the pitch. Skrinar and Ake operate as a central pairing where Skrinar looks to intercept play and Ake works to connect the defensive and attacking lines. El Hilali plays as the right midfielder to provide width, while Oso/Fortini operates on the left to help the team press in a mid-block. This group is tasked to win the second ball and immediately look to progress through the thirds.

Fenerbahçe relies on a lone striker, Berke, to lead the line. Berke acts as a target man to hold up the ball and wait for support from the wide players. When the team wins possession, Greenword and Kerem push forward to offer overlaps, allowing the wingers to cut inside and create numbers in the final third.
