Onana guards the goal while the defensive unit consists of just two center backs, Nwaiwu and Batagov. They operate with a very high line to keep the team compact, meaning they must be ready to cover large amounts of space behind them. Nwaiwu and Batagov must stay close together to defend zonally and prevent runners from slipping through the middle. Because there are only two defenders, they often have to step up to intercept passes or engage attackers early to prevent being isolated.

The midfield operates in a four man block to provide a screen for the two defenders. Cabral sits in the single pivot role to shield the defense and recycle possession when the ball is won back. Ahead of him, Pina and Leandro Perades act as central midfielders who drive forward with the ball to link the lines. Folcarelli works alongside them to compress the midfield and ensure the opposition cannot play through the center. This group works to win the second ball and immediately push the ball forward to the attackers.

The attacking unit is extremely aggressive, utilizing four players across the front to pin the last defender. Muci and Onuachu lead the line as two forwards in a partnership, where Onuachu acts as a target man to win the header and hold up the ball. Salah plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside and create chances, while Aral Şimşir stays wide on the left to stretch the defense. This front four is designed to attack in combinations and make runs in behind to catch the opposition out of position.

Trabzonspor gains a massive advantage through numerical superiority in the attacking third, making it difficult for a back four to mark everyone. The team also benefits from the ability to press high in coordinated waves, forcing long balls from the opposition. By using Onuachu to target the air, the team can bypass the midfield entirely during transitions.
