In the middle of the pitch, the team operates with a double pivot consisting of Mthethwa and Maboe. These two players are tasked with shielding the defense and providing the link between the back line and the front four. Maboe works to recycle possession and move the ball forward, while Mthethwa helps to press in a mid-block to win the ball back. They must stay compact to prevent the opposition from playing through the center.

The attacking unit is extremely heavy, utilizing two central forwards in Baartman and Duba alongside wide wingers Phili and Velebayi. Phili and Velebayi act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create more central presence, which allows them to combine in tight spaces with the strikers. Baartman and Duba operate as a partnership to challenge the center backs, looking to make runs in behind or hold up the ball for the oncoming midfielders. This front four is designed to press from the front and force a long ball from the opposition.

One major advantage for Kaizer Chiefs is the ability to create wide overloads by using the full backs to support the wingers.
