This defensive unit works to maintain a high line, using the offside trap to push the opposition back.

The midfield operates with a central pairing of Hjulmand and Koke, who act as a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. Koke, the captain, uses his passing range to recycle possession and connect the defense to the attack. Hjulmand sits deeper to shield the defense and win the second ball.
