In the final third, the team uses three attackers across the front. Puskas acts as a pressing centre-forward who holds up the ball and looks to find the feet of his teammates. Gento stays wide on the left as a winger who hugs the touchline to stretch the defence, while Ronaldo plays as an inverted winger on the right who cuts inside to shoot. The attack is built through quick combinations and movement, often looking to deliver early crosses or play a one-two to bypass the last defender.

A major advantage for Real Madrid is the ability to create wide overloads when Roberto Carlos and Gento push forward.
