Fenerbahçe aims to play a vertical style of football focused on rapid attacks and high pressure using a 4-2-4. This formation is built to stretch the defence and use a heavy front line to force the opposition into mistakes. By committing many players forward, the lineup looks to win the ball back high up the pitch and hit the opponent in behind before they can get organized.

Livakovic acts as the last line of defence behind a flat back four. Levent plays at left back and Winck operates at right back, both ready to push forward to support the attack. In the middle of the defensive line, Batagov and Heliton work together to defend zonally. Batagov and Heliton must hold the line and stay connected to prevent through balls, while also being ready to step up to catch opponents offside. The defensive unit works to keep the team compact even when the full backs push high.

The midfield is built around a double pivot consisting of Qazim Laci and Anthony Dennis. This pairing is responsible for shielding the defence and winning the second ball in the middle of the pitch. Qazim Laci and Anthony Dennis must work hard to cover the spaces left by the advancing full backs. They act as the engine, helping to recycle possession and progress through the thirds to find the attackers. Their main job is to deny the pivot of the opposition and stop transitions from turning into dangerous counter attacks.

Fenerbahçe uses a heavy attacking front line with four players. On the wings, Musaba plays as a right winger and Aral Şimşir acts as a left winger, with both looking to cut inside or provide width. In the central areas, Haris Hajradinovic and Onuachu operate as a strike partnership. Onuachu provides a physical presence as a target man to win headers and hold up the ball, while Haris Hajradinovic looks to play through the lines. The front four press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition, creating chances for the midfield to intercept.

This formation offers significant advantages in terms of attacking numbers and speed of transition. By playing with four attackers, Fenerbahçe can isolate wide players in one on one situations and create wide overloads. The setup allows the team to hit in behind on the transition very quickly, making it difficult for a back four to track every runner. This high volume of forwards also helps to squeeze the space in the opposition half when they try to play out from the back.

The 4-2-4 lineup is a high risk, high reward system built for aggressive attacking play. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to break down a low block or catch a high line on the counter.
