Starting Lineup
Hamza (1) · Denish (2) · Ojaah (3) · Akena (5) · Ohuru (6) · Kaboshe (10) · Rickitaan (8) · Ocigo (7) · Amosz (11) · Odong (9) · Hazard (9)A heavy focus on high pressing and rapid verticality defines this lineup in a 3-5-2. The team seeks to win it back high up the pitch and use quick transitions to catch the opposition before they can settle. By using a central core to dominate the middle, the team can push players forward to overwhelm defensive lines.
Hamza acts as the last line of defense, positioned to sweep behind a high line when the team pushes up. The back three consists of Denish, Akena, and Ojaah, forming a compact unit that can shift across the pitch. Akena sits in the center to command the area and win the header, while Denish and Ojaah provide cover on either side. These wide center backs must be ready to step into midfield or cover wide areas when the wingers push high. The defensive unit works to stay close together to deny the turn to any oncoming attackers.
The midfield is built around a single pivot, Ohuru, who sits deep to shield the defense and recycle possession. Ahead of him, Ocigo and Amosz operate as two central midfielders who connect the defensive and attacking lines. Ocigo drives forward with the ball to break the line, while Amosz looks to arrive late into the box to add a goal threat. Adding extra numbers in the attacking half, Kaboshe and Rickitaan play in the half spaces as attacking midfielders. This five man group creates a wall in the center to compress the midfield and intercept passes.
In the final third, the team uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defense. Odong leads the line as a pressing centre forward, forcing the opposition to play long balls. Hazard works closely with him, often dropping into the hole to link up play between the lines or making runs in behind. The width comes from the movements of Kaboshe and Rickitaan, who can pull wide to isolate a one on one situation against a fullback. This combination allows the team to attack in tight spaces or launch quick attacks in transition.
One major advantage is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play out from the back. The presence of five midfielders allows for numerical superiority in the center, which helps the team win the second ball. Another strength is the flexibility to shift from a defensive block into a direct attacking threat through the two forwards.
This 3-5-2 formation relies on intense pressing and central dominance to control the tempo. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play through a crowded midfield or those that leave space behind their defensive line.
