Kone works alongside him to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive line to the attackers. Roma utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Malen acts as the lone striker to lead the press from the front and pin the last defender. To his sides, Dybala plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside and create chances, while R. Mora occupies the left wing to provide width and direct runs. This front line is designed to create combinations in tight spaces and allow the wingers to isolate defenders in one on one situations.

One major advantage of this lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves using the front three and the wide midfielders. The presence of Cristante and Kone allows Roma to control the center of the pitch and protect the ball during transitions. Additionally, the wide positioning of Wesley and Molina creates overloads that force the opposition to shift constantly, which eventually opens gaps for Dybala to exploit.
